This module presents understanding how to assess and manage trauma memories when they occur spontaneously in patients.
Course Objective
This program provides clinicians with the opportunity to learn about:
The topic of working with traumatic memories
An explanation of what a confabulation is
A severe disorders general approach
An evaluation of the truth of a patient’s representation to you
Goals during treatment.

Author Bio
GEORGE GANAWAY, M.D. George Ganaway, M.D. is the Program Director at the Ridgeview Center for Dissociative Disorders in Smyrna, Georgia and the Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at both Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.  In addition he is an analytic candidate at the Emory University Psychoanalytic Institute.  He is assistant editor of the journal, Dissociation, as well as editorial reviewer for a number of mental health journals.  He has published and presented widely, and has written, directed, and coproduced a videotape documentary for medical profession education entitled, “Multiple Personality Disorders: An Overview.”  He has also served as Technical Consultation for the TV series “L.A. LAW” in its episodes addressing the issues of the validity of repressed memories.
